HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 1, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team returns both the Empire 8 Conference Player and Defensive Specialist/Libero of the Year from the 2015 team and open its season with a pair of matches Friday.

CALIFORNIA PREVIEW
The Ducks will play four matches over the course of two days while visiting California. After battling Whitter College and the University of Minnesota Morris tomorrow, the team will play Rhodes College and defending National Champions No. 1 California Lutheran University at 11:15 a.m. Saturday.
WELCOME BACK
Mary Tobin (Sr. OH, Boothwyn, Pa.) – Empire 8 Player of the Year and First Team All-Empire 8; Honorable Mention AVCA All-American; led team with 389 kills.
Sydni Horner (Jr. L, Columbia, Md.) – Empire 8 Defensive Specialist/Libero of the Year and First Team All-Empire 8; Honorable Mention AVCA All-American; led team with 649 digs; second with 41 service aces.
Christina Sciarra (Sr. OPP, Montclair, N.J.) – Second Team All-Empire 8; second on team with 322 kills; third on club with 39 aces and 31.0 total blocks
Brianna Evans (Jr. OH, Spokane, Wash.) – Second Team All-Empire 8, third on team with 221 kills while also tallying 29.0 blocks.
McKenzie Kingsbury (Jr. MB, San Diego, Calif.) – Top returning blocker after tallying 63.0 total blocks and 13 solo blocks in 2015.
Emily Piekarski (So. OH, Green Brook, N.J.) – Led team with 50 service aces and was tops in E8 with .64 aces per set.
KEY DEPARTURES
Annemarie Thomas – Led team with 70.0 total blocks, including 17 solo blocks.
Catie Shelton – Tops on team with 927 assists while also adding 29 aces and 205 digs.
