Women’s Volleyball Heads To New Paltz

HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 13, 2016) – After competing in the New Paltz Invitational last weekend, the Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team heads back to SUNY-New Paltz for a single match against the Hawks Wednesday.

MATCH INFO
First serve at the Hawk Center in New Paltz, N.Y. is scheduled for 7 p.m.

WEEKEND RECAP
Stevens went a perfect 4-0 at the NP Hawks Invitational, the only team to win all four of its matches. The biggest win was a four set win over New York regional power Clarkson University. Freshman Casey King was lone representative on the All-Tournament team.

NEW PALTZ REPORT
The Hawks went 2-2 at their tournament, and currently sit at 3-5 overall. Morgan Roessler leads NP with 106 kills thus far.

AWARD SEASON
King became the first Duck to claim an Empire 8 Conference award this season, as she was tabbed E8 Rookie of the Week. Against Clarkson, King recorded career-highs in kills (13), aces (5) and digs (20) while slugging .406.

BLOCK PARTY!
Freshmen Shelby Stewart and Sara Hain have been forces at the net, combining for 35 total blocks, including four solos. In three of the four matches over the weekend, Hain hit .500 or better, while notching a season-best 10 kills against Clarkson.

TOP OF THE EMPIRE
The Ducks have a stronghold on several key Empire 8 statistical categories, including hitting percentage (.251), assists per set (12.42), kills per set (13.31) and service aces (88).

CLOSE SECOND
Several Ducks are second in different individual categories across the E8. Stewart is hitting .390, sophomore Brianna Perez has dished out 9.24 assists per set, and junior Sydni Horner has picked up 152 digs, all good for second in the conference.

DISHIN' IT OUT
Perez has already topped her single season best for assists, as she has handed out 268 helpers in 29 sets. Last year, the Texan had 198 assists in in 36 sets.

KILLER KINGSBURY
Junior Mckenzie Kingsbury picked up her first two service aces of the year in the victory Mount Saint Mary College. Kingsbury also had a pair kills in the win.
