Women’s Volleyball To Host Ducks Classic

HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 15, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team will host its annual Ducks Classic Friday and Saturday.

MATCH DETAILS
The Ducks will play Hartwick at 4 p.m. Friday in the Empire 8 Conference opener before battling Oswego State in the nightcap at 8 p.m. On Saturday, it will be Stevens taking on Oneonta and Stockton at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. respectively.

LAST TIME OUT
Stevens picked up a 29-27, 25-14, 25-16 sweep over New Paltz Wednesday evening.

FIVE FOR FIVE
Through 10 matches this season, exactly half have been at New Paltz's Hawk Center, with the team going 5-0 in the five matches.

HOME COOKIN'
Despite only playing one match in Canavan Arena thus far, the Ducks get a bit of a reprieve, as the next six contests will be at home.

WELCOME BACK
Stevens will welcome back former women's volleyball head coach J.J. O'Connell, who is now the head man at Oswego. O'Connell is the Ducks program leader in wins with 272.

STOCKTON REPORT
One of the biggest matches of the weekend sees the Ducks taking Stockton. The Ospreys enter with a 7-2 overall record. Last fall, it was the Ospreys who took a three set match from Stevens.

DOUBLE-DOUBLES EVERYWHERE
Sophomore Brianna Perez and freshman Casey King each notched a double-double in the win over New Paltz. Perez picked up 13 digs to go along with 31 assists, while King slugged 10 kills and 14 digs.

STINE MACHINE
Senior Christina Sciarra narrowly missed a double-double, recording eight digs to go along with a season-best 13 kills.

GETTING THE HAIN OF IT
Freshman Sara Hain was tied for club lead with three total blocks in the sweep of New Paltz. Hain has recorded at least one kill in every match she's played in this season.
