PITSFORD, N.Y. (October 8, 2017) –
Gabby Pagkalinawan scored three times as the No. 14 Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team took down St. John Fisher College 4-0 in Empire 8 action on Sunday. The Ducks dominated all day, outshooting Fisher 28-5.
Lindsey Mahnken earned her fifth shutout of the season for Stevens and
Julia Panko produced two assists.
- Pagkalinawan opened the scoring in the sixth minute by gathering the ball in the six-yard box and firing into the left side
- 13 minutes later, she received a pass from Panko and this time sent the ball into the top right corner to double the Duck lead
- 10 minutes before halftime, Emily Damrell made the count 3-0 with a score of her own
- Pagkalinawan provided the only scoring of the second half off a Panko corner kick. She punched the ball over the head of the goaltender to earn the first hat trick of her career
- Mahnken made three saves to earn the shutout victory
- Pagkalinawan had not scored in any of the previous nine games she played for Stevens this season
- The Ducks took seven of the eight corner kicks in the match

"Good bounce back performance this afternoon - we moved the ball well and were more composed in the final third throughout the first half. We were doing a good job of connecting and working together off the ball. That led to us creating simple passes and making things easier for teammates in possession. Important three E8 points from the long weekend and we're already preparing for Alfred next Saturday."
The Stevens team will return home this weekend to host Alfred University in a high noon Empire 8 showdown on Saturday.
