Women’s Fencing Tops FDU

NEW YORK, N.Y. (November 17, 2017) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's fencing team dropped Fairleigh Dickinson University 19-8 before dropping a spirited 19-8 decision to powerhouse Columbia University on Friday night.

Senior Karen Kong went 3-2 at sabre and her classmate Abby Kaye (foil) won three bouts as well to lead the Ducks individually. The Stevens sabreists swept FDU 9-0.

In a surprise for all involved, head coach Linda Vollkommer-Lynch received recognition from the Columbia fencing program for the Stevens team's 2017 NIWFA Division III title and her long reign over and her founding of the Stevens fencing program.

The women's fencing team will have their final action of the season at the NIWFA Christmas Invitational on December 3 at Drew University in Madison.
