Daphne Ginn came off the bench to combine for 33 points and 19 rebounds, as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team defeated Alfred University, 90-65, in an Empire 8 Conference matchup at the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena Friday.
Junior forward
Megan Brown recorded 11 points on a perfect 5-for-5 shooting and sophomore guard
Elena Sanchez added a career-high 12 points for Stevens, who improved to 12-9 overall and 11-2 in conference play.
Amanda Off scored a game-high 23 points for the Saxons, who fell to 2-20 on the season and 0-13 in the E8.
Stevens, Hartwick, and Ithaca remain deadlocked at 11-2 atop the Empire 8 standings.
Turning Point
- After Alfred grabbed its only lead of the game, courtesy of an Amanda Off three-point basket, Stevens went on an 8-0 run to seize control of the game.
- Senior guard Erica Guketlov fed Brown and graduate student Kaitlyn Astel for back-to-back layups that reclaimed the for the Ducks.
- Consecutive baskets by junior Anna Toke opened a 10-3 lead for Stevens and forced an Alfred timeout.
- The Ducks would lead for the remainder of the game.
Inside the Numbers
- Stoddard's 13 points marked a career high and led four players in double figures.
- Ginn finished one point and one rebound shy of her first career double-double. Her nine rebounds established a new career high.
- Stevens returned to its hot-shooting form, sinking 37-of-68 shots from the field, including a blistering 63.6% in the first half.
- The Ducks outrebounded the Saxons, 49-32.
- 11 different players scored for the Ducks and every player recorded at least one rebound.
- Guketlov tallied her seventh game with at least five assists. The senior also led the team with three steals.
- Toke recorded eight points on a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and grabbed six rebounds.
- The dynamic performances by Stoddard, Ginn, and Hahn allowed Stevens to hold a 61-14 edge in points off the bench.
- Stevens won its 20th consecutive game in the series.
Unsung Hero
- Guketlov's five assists helped Stevens record 28 helpers on 37 baskets.
- All of Sanchez's points came off three-point field goals.

- The Ducks wrap up their final road trip of the 2016-17 season with a Saturday afternoon game at Houghton College.
- Stevens defeated the Highlanders, 87-49, on January 13. Houghton has yet to defeat the Ducks during Coach Haughey's time with the program.
