Kathleen Kalbian and sophomore
Mackenzie Metzler combined for seven goals Sunday in the Ducks 17-4 season-opening win over St. Joseph's (LI) in Hoboken.
The win is the second straight for Stevens on opening day as it moves to 1-0 on the season.
Freshman
Kyra Bednarski led all Stevens offensive players with six points off four assists and a pair of goals in her collegiate debut, while senior
Mariel Haubrich tallied four assists and one goal. Freshman
Hannah Condren scored two goals with one assist, in addition to goals from four other Ducks.
Junior
Stephanie Schnelzer and sophomore
Alex Samper combined for four saves in the cage as each saw 30 minutes of action.
Stevens dominated in shots 41-8 including a 31-8 margin in shots on goal, while tallying 21 ground balls to St. Joseph's four.
Kalbian scored twice in the first five minutes off free position attempts, before Metzler got into the scoring action on a feed from Bednarski. Condren followed with her first career goal to put Stevens up four 10 minutes into regulation, followed by scores from junior

Bridget Reed went back-to-back midway through the half, before Kalbian and Condren made it 11-0 with five minutes to play. St. Joseph's responded with two unanswered, but a free-position goal from freshman
Tara Ravoli sealed a 12-2 advantage for the Ducks at the half.
St. Joseph's added another early in the second, but Stevens came back with scores from Haubrich and Metzler to make it 14-3. The Golden Eagles added one more during the 18-minute mark, but it's all they would get as goals from Bednarski, Kalbian and freshman
Brianne Salera in the final seven minutes clinched the blowout win.
Stevens will head out on the road Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game at Montclair St., before hosting Rowan Saturday at 11 a.m.
