Men’s Fencing Returns To Action At MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (February 5, 2017) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing saw its first action of 2017 Sunday with five matches at the Eric Sollee Invitational. 

Stevens fell to Brandeis 18-9, Brown 16-11, Boston College 22-5, Duke 23-4, and MIT 15-12. 

Four Ducks tallied at least four wins led by seven for sophomore Ryan Edelstein at foil. Jacob Ciesieslki won six times, while senior Stephen Rienzi and junior Jeffrey Paine won five and four respectively at epee and sabre. 

Stevens' epee squad enjoyed its most successful match with nine wins against Brandeis, while foil won five times in the matchup with Brown. Sabre also won five bouts against Brown for its best performance of the day. 

Stevens will return to action next Sunday when it hosts its annual MACFA round robin.
