Carson White made eight saves in the second half, senior
Tim Leahey scored the game-winning goal, and No. 18 Stevens Institute of Technology Men's Lacrosse defeated No. 14 Stevenson University, 7-5 Tuesday evening in a non-conference game at the De Baun Athletic Complex.
Junior
John Boutureira tallied two goals and an assist for the Ducks, who improved to 13-3 on the year in winning their eighth straight game.
J.T. Thelen had two goals and an assist for the Mustangs, who fell to 10-5. Stevenson had won three of the last four matchups with Stevens.
"We are proud of the way our team grinded in the second half," head coach
Gene Peluso said. "We thought our defense was outstanding and Carson played excellent."
On an evening filled with torrential rain, only eight players registered points for Stevens and only three tallied points for the Mustangs. Boutureira was the only multiple-point producer for Stevens. Freshman

Alec Caseiro played their hearts out for us tonight," Peluso added. "Stevenson is a tough team and we really did a great job in the second half keeping them scoreless."
Stevenson outshot Stevens, 46-28, including a 15-3 advantage in the first quarter and a 12-9 margin over the final 15:00. Stevens was 22-for-27 on clear attempts, while the Mustangs were 17-of-18.
Carson White earned the victory for Stevens, making 15 saves, including five in the final period. Ross Dinan suffered the loss for Stevenson.
Sean Ohlhaver opened the game's scoring, beating White 6:11 into the contest.
Eric Radbourne was score the equalizer with 2:12 remaining in the opening stanza, sending the teams into the second quarter tied at one.
The Mustangs came out firing in the second stanza as Kyle D'Onofrio netted his 37th of the year just 58 seconds into the period. Stevenson would add three more tallies over the next 3:30 to grab a 5-1 lead, silencing the Stevens faithful that braved the elements.
Boutureira stopped the Stevenson momentum with his 29th goal of the year, that gave the Ducks a little edge heading into the intermission. "John really played tough for us on the offensive side of the field," Peluso reflected.
Coming out of halftime, Stevens took control of the game, with White providing several key saves that allowed the Stevens offense to get on track. Monteleone's tally began the third-quarter rally and was followed by goals from Boutureira and
Dean Peluso that drew the Ducks even at five.
Tim Leahey capped the comeback with his 15th goal of the year, beating Dinan with just 38 seconds left in the period.
Holding a slim 6-5 lead, the Ducks tried to put pressure on Dinan, but an aggressive Mustang defense forced 10 Stevens turnovers in trying to find the equalizer, but White made saved all five shots on goal to keep the lead in tact. Stevenson fired 12 shots in the period.
Connor McKeon's 26th goal of the year provided the game's final margin.
Up next: Stevens rounds out the regular season with an Empire 8 Conference matchup against Nazareth College on April 29. The Golden Flyers are still playing for seeding in the league's postseason tournament. Stevens has clinched the number one overall seed and will host an opening round game on Wednesday, May 3; opponent and time to be announced. "We are excited to get a great win against a regional-ranked team in the South, but now we have to focus on our conference game this weekend.
