HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 10, 2017) – The No. 15 Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team topped New York University 1-0 on Sunday to earn its second victory in as many games at the 2017 Engineering Cup.

Mahnken earned her second shutout of the year with five saves. Danielson also made five stops for the Violets.

- NYU hit the post early in the second half
- NYU had another goal taken off the board for offside in the first five minutes of the second
- Stevens' Emily Damrell hit the crossbar with six minutes remaining
- Mahnken punched away a dangerous corner kick in the final minute as NYU was buzzing around the goal trying to find the equalizer
- The Violets outshot Stevens 25-13 in the game, but the Ducks had one more (6-5) shot on-goal
- Megan Lynes and Erica O'Kelly were the other Stevens starters on the back line who helped the team pitch the shutout
Swarthmore College and Stevens both posted 2-0 records this weekend. The Garnet took home the Engineering Cup thanks to two regulation wins. The Ducks won yesterday over Babson in double overtime. Marin McCoy of Swarthmore was named the Offensive MVP of the 2017 Engineering Cup.
"It was an important result for our team, but thought the way we were able to handle some adversity and work through some difficulties was really important today," said Stevens head coach
Jeff Parker. "This has become a vital regional game for both teams and that is always on your mind - but the way our team handled the situation from start to finish was outstanding. Our group recovered and performed well and I was particularly proud of their resilience this weekend."
The Ducks are back in action on Saturday when they open Empire 8 play at The Sage Colleges in the Gators' first-ever E8 match.
