HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 13, 2017) – Regan Littell gave the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team a lead 7:17 into its matchup with No. 8 Montclair State University on Wednesday, but the Red Hawks were able to come away with a 5-1 victory.

- Montclair was able to score five unanswered goals. Amber Haslett scored twice for MSU in the contest.

- Cassidy O'Hearn had a defensive save at 22:49 in what was a 2-1 game to keep the Ducks in the hunt

- Stevens had a good scoring chance set up by Victoria Alvarez on the right side with 5:30 to go in the first with a good pass across goal mouth

- The Ducks got a sweet kick save by goaltender Nicole Mottole one minute later. She finished with eight saves

- MSU led all stats at the half: Corners 10-4, Shots 15-4

The Red Hawks scored three goals within fifteen minutes in the second half to put the game on ice, though the Ducks did outshoot MSU 13-12 in the second period. The final shot count was 27-17. Anna Cooper also had a defensive save in the game for Stevens.

The Ducks will next open up Empire 8 play on Saturday with an 11 a.m. date against St. John Fisher College – a rematch of last year's Empire 8 Tournament game won by the Cardinals in overtime.
