HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 20, 2017) – Freshman goalkeeper
Nicole Mottole made 19 saves for the second-straight game, but the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team lost a tight 2-1 matchup with Cabrini University on Wednesday.
In addition to Mottole, senior defender
Drew Lustig single-handedly kept two Cavalier shots out of the cage and
Anna Cooper added another defensive save for the Ducks in the game.
Sara DeVita was the offensive star of the game, with both Cabrini goals in the contest

	- DeVita netted her first goal in the fourth minute after Cabrini had earned a series of four penalty corners
- Stevens' Victoria Alvarez knotted the game at 13:54 off a penalty corner as well. Cassidy O'Hearn ripped a shot from the circle and it was tipped in by Alvarez for her Empire 8-leading seventh goal of the season
- Despite the low score, shots were plentiful. The final count was 29-27
- DeVita scored the game-winner at 50:49 after she lifted a loose ball in front top shelf for the score
- Stevens nearly had the equalizer in the final minute of play, but Holly Gremmel came up with Cabrini's only defensive save to preserve the win
- Taylor Bookman made 11 saves for the Cavaliers to earn the win
"Unfortunately, we got outplayed today" said head coach
Meredith Spencer-Blaetz. "Cabrini is a gritty team with a well-run game plan. We had a hard time adjusting and weren't able to execute. It's a game that we will learn from and take it into this weekend when we'll face a crucial Empire 8 game."
The Ducks will remain home on Saturday to host Elmira College at 11 a.m. in Empire 8 action. It will be the Ducks' Play for the Cure Game, and donations will be accepted at the gate.
