  • The field was tilted heavily toward the Elmira goal all day, with Stevens outshooting the visitors 45-11.
  • EC goaltender Julie Hockenberger made 14 first-half save to keep the game within reach;  through halftime, the score was 2-0.
  • Stevens did break through for two goals in the first: O'Hearn ripped the first one directly off a corner insert by Regan Littell at 9:04.
  • At 24:55, Ireland Tawney and Katti Thomasian came off the bench to engineer their own goal on the right side. Tawney's shot was just inside the left post to double the Duck lead to 2-0
  • Stevens scored four times the first 12 minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach. Victoria Alvarez, Littell, O'Hearn and Janet Vill had those goals that broke the game open.
  • Elmira responded with back-to-back goals late in the game. Alison Mariano scored one and assisted the other for the Soaring Eagles.
  • With six minutes remaining, Skylar Migliaccio put an end to any thought of an EC rally by cleaning up a long rebound and putting the ball home for the seventh Stevens goal of the afternoon
  • Nicole Mottole earned the win for Stevens with three saves
  • Emily Sneddon added another two saves for Stevens in 11:32 of game time
  • The final corner count was 14-2 in favor of the Ducks

Coach's Quote
"Today was a much needed win! We had good passing and I was happy to see us execute on shots. We had multiple goal scorers and a couple of players recording their first collegiate goal. It was a whole team effort and now we'll  focus on our next Empire 8 game."

The Ducks will continue their homestand a week from today when they host Utica College in another Empire 8 showdown at 5 p.m. on Saturday as part of Stevens Athletic Alumni Day. Former field hockey standout Kara Borzillo will be inducted into the Stevens Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the day's festivities.
