Women’s Swimming drops duals to Swarthmore and Rowan

  • Short Story: Sophomore Isabella Fairman, senior Tori Glascock and freshman Kira Power each posted personal-best times, but the Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team fell to Swarthmore College and Rowan University in a double-dual meet held Saturday in Pennsylvania.

Top Performers
  • Fairman recorded a time of 11:03.29 in the 1,000-yard freestyle race, placing third against Rowan and second against the Garnet. The Saint Paul, Minnesota native also finished second against Rowan in the 500-yard free with a time 5:22.77.
  • Glascock placed fifth against Rowan and second against Swarthmore in the 100-yard backstroke with a time 1:05.11.
  • Power posted her personal-best time of 2:30.33 in the 200-yard backstroke.
  • Junior Samantha Geyer posted a season-best time of 1:03.43 in the 100-yard backstroke during the 400-yard medley relay. As a team, the Ducks quarter of Geyer, senior Kaitlynn Prescott, freshman Isabelle Rivera and sophomore Samantha Zdesar placed second against Swarthmore and third against the Profs. Geyer also placed second against both opponents in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:47.16.
  • Junior Courtney Jones posted a time of 1:59.64 in the 200-yard freestyle race, placing second against Swarthmore and first against Rowan. Jones also finished the 50-yard freestyle race in 25.76 seconds to win the event against Swarthmore. Freshman Olivia Powers finished 34-hundredths-of-a-second behind Jones to place second against the Garnet. 
  • Jones continued her strong showing in the freestyle events with a victory against Swarthmore with a time of 55.94 seconds. The time was good for a third-place showing against Rowan.
  • Junior Caroline Shusta finished the 200-yard butterfly race in 2:19.98, placing third against Rowan and second against Swarthmore.
  • The quartet of Fairman, Rivera, Zdesar and Jones placed second against both Rowan and Swarthmore in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:43.04.

  • The Ducks welcome The College of New Jersey to the DeBaun Aquatic Center Sunday for a dual meet. It will be the first home event of the season for women's swimming. The meet begins at 1 p.m.
