HOBOKEN, N.J. (January 9, 2018) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team thumped Utica College 85-54 on Tuesday night in Empire 8 action. The Ducks led wire-to-wire and led by as many as 47 during the evening. Stevens is now 4-0 in the conference.
The Ducks were dominant in the first half, holding Utica to just 18 points on 6-26 shooting. The Pioneers didn't help themselves much, going just 4-15 from the charity stripe in the first period.
In contrast, Stevens poured in 46 points from 11 different players in the first 20 minutes.
The Ducks realized their largest lead midway through the second half, when the score stood at 72-25.
Individually, the Ducks featured yet another balanced scoresheet with four players in double figures, namely
Spencer Cook (12),
Frank Amari and
Kevin Florio (11) and
Jayson Winick (10). A total of 14 different Ducks found their way into the scoring column.
Coach's Corner
"I thought that our urgency on the defensive end was consistent throughout the game," said head coach
Bobby Hurley. "If we can continue to be consistent on that side of the floor, we will be in a position to compete in a lot of games throughout the rest of this season.
"It is great to see our players continue to push themselves to get better throughout practices and games through this intersession stretch, and all of the credit goes to them as they show up every day ready to get better."

The Ducks will remain home to host The Sage Colleges at 5 p.m. on Thursday in the first meeting between the programs as Empire 8 members.
