Women’s Volleyball Drops 3-1 Decision at Stevenson

OWINGS MILLS, MD. (October 27, 2018)  – Senior Brianna Perez recorded her first double-double of the season with 41 assists and 10 digs as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team fell to Stevenson in four sets (25-20, 25-27, 16-25, 23-25) Saturday afternoon at the Owings Mills Gymnasium. 

Junior Taleen Mitchell delivered 18 kills and 8 digs while classmate Shelby Stewart chipped in an additional 12 kills and two blocks, as the Ducks fell to 22-9 on the year. 

The Mustangs were led by Katie Leftridge who registered a double-double with 24 kills and 24 digs. Stevenson advanced to 20-11 this season.  

Volleys and Points
  • Leftridge opened the match with a kill for the Mustangs. 
  • Back-to-back kills from Mitchell and Stewart gave the Ducks their first points of the match. 
  • Three consecutive kills by the Mustangs gave them a 4-2 lead. 
  • Mitchell set down a pass from Perez to end Stevenson's streak. 
  • A 5-0 run led by two aces from freshman Roxy Stirb, a kill by junior Sara Hain and a kill from freshman Corinne Dougherty put the Ducks up 10-7. 
  • Victoria Prokic ended the run with a kill for the Mustangs. 
  • Stevenson committed two errors to give the Ducks a four point lead. 
  • The Mustangs came back within two points after a kill from Darian Hileman and an attack error by Stevens.
  • The Ducks went on another 5-0 run that included two kills from Mitchell and an additional kill by Stewart. 
  • Stevenson scored five consecutive points to come within two. 
  • Back-to-back kills by Hain put the Ducks up 23-19.

  • A Stevenson attack error and a kill by junior Kristen Edmiston gave the Ducks a two point lead. 
  • The Mustangs went on a 5-0 run that included four kills to take an 8-5 lead. 
  • Stewart ended the streak after setting down a pass from Perez. 
  • Savage issued two kills to put the Mustangs up 10-6.
  • Stevenson took a 15-9 lead after two kills by Leftridge and an error by the Ducks. 
  • Despite kills from four different Ducks, Stevenson was able to walk away with the third set. 
  • The Mustangs took an early 3-0 lead to begin the fourth set. 
  • A bad set by Prokic gave Stevens their first point of the set. 
  • With Stevenson up 11-5, the Ducks scored five consecutive points, shortening the lead to one. 
  • Two errors and a kill by Leftridge gave the Mustangs a 16-11 lead. 
  • The Ducks tied the set at 16 after two kills by Dougherty, a kill by Edmiston and an ace from Stewart.
