WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (November 10, 2018) – Sophomore
Emily Damrell scored the lone goal of the match in double-overtime to send the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team past No. 20 SUNY Geneseo in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Farley-Lamb Field.
Freshman
Izzy DiDario stopped three shots in her fourth shutout for the Ducks, who won their 14th consecutive match to improve to 16-2 on the year and advance to tomorrow's second round of the NCAA Tournament. The 14-game winning streak ties for the most consecutive wins in program history.
Goalkeeper Emily Janiszewski made 13 saves for Geneseo, who finished their season with a record of 14-4-1.
Senior
Zisi Komar sent the ball into the Knight's 18-yard box from the left side of the field, forcing Janiszewski off her line and into play. Damrell found the ball and was able to send it past the keeper to tally her third goal of the season.
Inside the Numbers
- The Ducks outshot Geneseo, 27-6. Stevens totaled 14 shots on goal, while the Knights only registered three.
- Stevens took five corner kicks during the match, four of them being in the first half. The Knights only took two.
- Komar fired off five shots, four of them being on target.
- All three of senior Olivia Butera's shots were on goal.
Unsung Hero
- Continued pressure from the Stevens offense allowed them to have multiple scoring attempts.
