Women's Fencing Stevens Athletic Communications

Women’s Fencing Edged at Columbia Duals

NEW YORK, N.Y. (November 16, 2018) — Seniors Amanda Choy and Julia Yang each recorded a 4-2 finish as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's fencing team fell to Johns Hopkins University and Columbia University at the Columbia Duals Friday evening. 

The Ducks were edged by one point against Johns Hopkins, falling to the Blue Jays 13-14. Stevens then put up a hard-fought battle against Division I powerhouse Columbia, but ultimately fell 7-20. 

Top Finishers
  • Junior Teny Odaimi finished 3-3, garnering a win against Columbia. 
  • Sabre fencers freshman Kiera Barnes and senior Michelle Drobish each picked up a win against Columbia, allowing the sabre squad to finish at 4-5 against the Lions.

  • Stevens will compete in the National Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association (NIWFA) Christmas Invitational in Ewing, New Jersey on Dec. 2.
