St. John Fisher Rallies to Defeat Field Hockey

WASHINGTON, PA. (November 2, 2018) - Sophomore Skylar Migliaccio found the back of the cage in the 15th minute to provide an early lead, but the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team fell to St. John Fisher 4-1 in the Empire 8 semifinal game Friday afternoon at Cameron Stadium.

Freshman Emily Franco totaled five saves for the Ducks, who finished their season 12-7 overall and 6-2 in conference play.

St. John Fisher came out strong in the second half, seeing four different players score goals. The Cardinals improved to 7-1 in Empire 8 action as they head into tomorrow's championship game. Ashley Maynard recorded three saves for St. John Fisher to earn the victory.

Migliaccio tallied her 12th goal of the season after redirecting a shot by junior Ireland Tawney to provide the early lead. The Long Valley, New Jersey native finishes the season as the Ducks leading scorer.

From the Sidelines

  • "That was a tough end to a big season for the Ducks. We played beyond our years for most of the season, which means that the future is bright. Our two seniors played incredibly well today and this team would not be where it is without them." - head coach Meredith Spencer-Blaetz
