HOBOKEN, N.J. (November 3, 2018) - Freshman Justin Kochman scored two goals as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team blanked St. John Fisher 5-0 in Saturday's Empire 8 Conference semifinal match at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.
Seniors Chris Cesario and Andrew Masur along with freshman Matthew Pinho each chipped in a goal as the Ducks improved to 16-2-1 and advanced to tomorrow's Empire 8 Conference championships for the second year in a row. In the 2017 campaign, Stevens topped Sage 1-0 to win the E8 title.
Justin Miles made 10 saves for the Cardinals, who finished their season with an overall record of 4-11-2.
Inside the Numbers
- The Ducks fired off 23 shots, which included a season-high 15 shots on goal.
- Senior Daniel Aversano led all players with five shots, three of them being on net.
- Aversano dished out two assists. The Upper Saddle River, New Jersey native leads both the Ducks and the Empire 8 with 10 assists on the year.
- Kochman, sophomore Cristiano Hocken, and freshman Dylan Inguardi each chipped in one assist.
- Stevens held the edge in corner kicks, 10-2.
Unsung Hero
- A strong Stevens defense only allowed two shots, neither of which were on goal.
