UTICA, N.Y. (February 17, 2018) – Senior
Megan Brown recorded her 11th double-double of the year with 15 points and 15 rebounds but saved her biggest basket of the night for the final seconds. Brown sank a running layup with one second remaining in overtime to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team over Utica College, 61-60, Saturday in an Empire 8 Conference matchup at the Harold T. Clark Athletic Center.
After stealing an inbounds pass, Brown drove down the court around a bevy of defenders to sink the game-winning basket. A desperation heave by the Pioneers was well-short.
Freshman
Maddi Hahn had 12 points and sophomore
Alison Criswell filled the stat sheet with 11 points seven rebounds, five steals and four assists. The victory was the fifth straight for women's basketball, who concluded the regular season with a 13-12 record and a 10-6 mark in league play. The Ducks will be the third seed in the Empire 8 Conference Championship.
Alaina Tripp led all players with 17 points and Ashley Mayo posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for Utica, who fell to 9-16 on the year and 5-11 in the E8.
