Women’s Basketball falls at St. John Fisher

PITTSFORD, N.Y. (February 2, 2018)  – Senior Sydney Darby recorded a team-high 10 points, but the Stevens Insitute of Technology women's basketball team fell at St. John Fisher College Friday evening in an Empire 8 Conference matchup at Manning and Napier Varsity Gymnasium.

Freshman Sam Winter added five points and a team-high four assists and senior Megan Brown pulled down a team-high seven rebounds for the Ducks, who fell to 8-12 on the year and 5-6 in conference play.

Nicole Robinson led all players with a career-high 20 points. The senior also added a game-high 10 rebounds as St. John Fisher improved to 15-5 on the year and 10-1 in the Empire 8. The Cardinals have won 12 of their last 13 games to move atop the Empire 8 standings. 

Turning Point
  • Down by eight at halftime, St. John Fisher went on a 14-2 run to start the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
  • With a chance to cut a double-digit deficit to two possessions, Stevens missed the first shot of the stanza. Sydney Masna sank a pair of free throws to push the Fisher advantage back to double figures.
  • The Cardinals added a pair of baskets to claim a 15-point lead before Darby's layup put Stevens on the board in the stanza.

Inside the Numbers
  • Eight different players scored for the Ducks. The balanced offensive performance helped Stevens to 20-10 edge in points off the bench.
  • Freshman Maddi Hahn swatted three shots to lead the team. Robinson accounted for all of Fisher's five blocks.
  • Darby and sophomore Alison Criswell led Stevens with two steals. The Ducks turned 15 St. John Fisher miscues into eight points.
  • St. John Fisher led wire to wire.
  • Robinson and Masna accounted for all of St. John Fisher's points in the second quarter.
