LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (March 12, 2018) – Junior
Mackenzie Metzler scored four goals, including the game-winner, as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team topped Garden State rival FDU-Florham 11-6 top open its spring break trip in Florida on Monday.
The Ducks enjoyed a 6-2 lead at halftime and cruised to their third victory of the season. Senior
Stephanie Schnelzer earned the win by playing all 60 minutes and making nine saves on the day.
Senior
Cami Santor also posted a hat trick – her first of the season – in the game.
Metzler has scored at least three goals in all four of Stevens' games so far this year. She scored four goals on just six shots, and also tied with
Tori Bruce for the team lead with three ground balls.
Hannah Condren added two scoops off the ground.
Other Ducks to score on Monday were
Brianne Salera, Condren,
Emily Shanklin and
Julianna Ricci with one apiece.
Kayla Buell and
Haley Hanrahan pulled down four draw controls each for Stevens. Regan Little and
Kyra Bednarski earned the only caused turnovers for Stevens.
Noelle Shirley netted a hat trick of her own to lead the Devils in the game.
