• Short Story: The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team was defeated by William Smith College Sunday in a non-conference match at Bristol Field House.
• The records: Stevens: 9-7; William Smith: 5-2
• Of note: This was the second-ever meeting between the programs. The Herons hold a 2-0 record in the all-time series.

    
How It Happened

• William Smith opened the match with victories in the three doubles flights, including consecutive 8-2 decisions in the second and third matches.
• The Herons won all six singles flights, with five of the matches ending in straight sets. Sophomore Julia Earl forced a tiebreaker in her second set against Michaelann Denton, but was edged 6-1, 7-6 (7-5) in the first spot. 
• Freshman Chelsea Braithwaite battled Leland Barclay to a third set in the fifth flight, before falling 10-7 in the tiebreaker.
