HARTFORD, Conn. (March 6, 2018) – Junior
Mackenzie Metzler earned a hat trick for the third time in three games this season, but the Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team fell to No. 3 Trinity College of Connecticut 15-6 on Tuesday night.
The Bantams scored the first three goals of the evening and seven of the first eight to put themselves in a good position early on.
Metzler did her part to keep the Ducks in the game. She scored the first three Stevens goals of the game, including the final one with two minutes to go to make the halftime count 8-3.
Julianna Ricci then scored the next two goals for the Ducks, but Trinity scored another seven goals in the second period to stay ahead.
Kyra Bednarski added an unassisted goal in the final 90 seconds for the Ducks. All of Ricci and Metzler's goals came on free position opportunities.
Kiley Coffey led Trinity with six goals.
Up Next
The Ducks will fly south to play two games in the Sunshine State next week. Up first is a matchup against New Jersey rival FDU-Florham on March 12 at Disney's Wide World of Sports.
