Balanced attack sends Women’s Soccer over Widener, 3-0

CHESTER, Pa. (August 31, 2018)  – Senior Zisi Komar converted a Fiona Matthews through ball midway through the opening half, propelling the Stevens Institute of Technology Women's Soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Widener University Friday evening in a non-conference fixture at Quick Stadium.

Freshmen Ally Wanzor and Shay McCarthy also found the back of the net for the Ducks, who extended their unbeaten streak on opening night to four. Dating back to 2015, Stevens is 3-0-1 in season openers.

Alyssa Dionisio had a shot on goal and Delaney Sabath made three saves for the Pride, who fell to 0-1. Stevens has won two straight meetings between the programs and lead the all-time series 2-1.

Turning Point

From the Sidelines
  • "Starting off on the right foot getting a good result on the road tonight. We had some solid contributions in the match from a number of student athletes and thought our team did a good job of staying together throughout the contest. Now turning to our next test on Sunday at Swarthmore. Looking forward to seeing how our group handles the challenge."
