Field Hockey returns to win column with victory over Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa. (September 19, 2018)  – Senior Hannah Silvestri and sophomore Skylar Migliaccio each recorded two goals as the Stevens Institute of Technology Field Hockey team defeated Cabrini University 8-0 Wednesday in a non-conference game at ER Dixon Field. 

Six different players found the back of the net for Stevens, including freshman Ellie Jenkins, who recorded her first collegiate goal. Junior Ireland Tawney, sophomore Jaymie Fiebel and freshman Alyssa Appleby also scored for Stevens, who improved to 4-3 while snapping a two-game losing streak. 

Migliaccio added two assists to finish with a career-high six points. Senior Regan Littell added two assists and sophomore Brynn Froehlich collected one assist to round out the Stevens scoring.

Goalies Devon Scharf and Noelia Rodriguez combined for five saves for Cabrini, who fell to 1-5. The Cavaliers have been shut out in three consecutive contests.

Turning Point
  • Holding a 2-0 lead at halftime, the Ducks quickly put the game out of reach early in the second half, scoring three goals on five shots in the first 7:06 of the final stanza. 
  • Silvestri began the sequence, knocking home a rebound off her own initial shot. 
  • Migliaccio followed 2:26 later with a strong individual move around Ramirez and Jenkins closed the pivotal stretch, converting a Migliaccio cross to give Stevens a 5-0 lead.

Inside the Numbers
  • Stevens outshot Cabrini 17-8, including a 13-3 edge in shots on goal.
  • Cabrini earned seven penalty corners as opposed to five for the Ducks. 
  • Trisha Billig led all players with four shots, although Silvestri and junior Ireland Tawney each fired a game-high three shots on goal.
  • Littell's two assists brought her season total to four, matching a career high.
  • With their performances tonight, Silvestri and Migliaccio each established new career highs in points
