Men’s Fencing Tripped Up at Temple Invitational

The men's fencing faced tough competition and was unable to secure a team victory at the Temple Invitational.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (February 24, 2019) — The Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing team competed against their toughest competition of the season and was unable to emerge victorious at the Temple Invitational on Saturday.

The Ducks fell to the University of Pennsylvania (16-11), Princeton University (20-7), Penn State University (23-4), St. John's University (18-9) and Johns Hopkins University (14-13). Stevens ended the day with an overall record of 31-8.

Epee
  • The epee squad registered two wins over Johns Hopkins (5-4) and UPenn (6-3).
  • Freshman Andy Faubert led with nine wins while classmate Wolfe Crouse collected seven victories. 

Foil
  • Foil recorded a 5-4 win over Johns Hopkins. 
  • Senior Ryan Edelstein finished with five wins and freshman Logan Rechler tallied four. 

Sabre
  • Freshman Vaughn Rice led the sabre squad with four wins on the day.

  • The Ducks will compete in the MACFA Championships at Drew University on Sunday, March 3.
