WAYNE, N.J. (Sept. 4, 2019) – Sophomore
Kila Eadie scored her second career goal in the 53rd minute to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team to a thrilling 3-2 victory over William Patterson University Wednesday at Wightman Stadium.
Stevens was able to hold on for the final seven minutes of game action to grab their second consecutive one-goal victory to move to 2-1 on the year while the Pioneers dropped to 0-2.
Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Ducks took a 2-1 lead in the third quarter thanks to goals from
Michaela Thompson and
Natalie Logan in the 38th and 40th minute, respectively.
After Hope Addlesberger tied the game at two in the 47th minute, Eadie was able to give Stevens the lead for good when she found the back of the net after a deflected shot by Thompson off the pad.
Turning Point
- On a penalty corner set piece, Thompson was able to get a stick on the ball and take a shot at the goal.
- The senior from Manasquan, N.J.'s shot was deflected off the goalie's pad right to Eadie, who finished the job and registered her first career game-winning goal.
Inside the Numbers
- The Ducks were able to double (24-12) the shot total of WP in the contest and held a 19-7 advantage in the second half.
- With the game tied at 2-2, the Ducks managed to rattle off six total shots in the next six minutes of game action, including Eadie's game-winner.
- In total, Stevens out-shot William Patterson 12-1 in the final stanza.
- Stevens also produced a total of 14 penalty corners compared to just eight for the Pioneers.
- Brynn Froehlich and Thompson both were able to rack up five total shots and two shots on goal apiece.
- The Ducks are now 2-0 in one-score games this season and are 8-4 in their last 12 contests decided by one goal dating back to the 2018 season.
Unsung Hero
- Logan picked up her first career goal in the 40th minute when she fired a shot off the goalie's pad to make the score 2-1 in favor of the Ducks.
- The freshman from Poway, Calif., scored on her first career shot attempt.
