Field Hockey Drops Narrow Home Opener 3-2 Against Stockton

Migaliaccio and Froehlich both score early in contest

HOBOKEN, N.J. (Sept. 7, 2019) Skylar Migliaccio and Brynn Froehlich scored early goals in the first quarter, but the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team could not hold on as they fell 3-2 against Stockton Saturday at DeBaun Athletic Complex.

After the Ducks took an early 2-0 lead with goals in the sixth and 15th, respectively, the Ospreys responded with single goals in the second, third and fourth quarters to take home the victory and move to 3-0 on the year while the ducks dropped to 2-2.

Migliaccio netted the first goal of the game for Stevens when she found the back of the net on a penalty shot for her first score of the season.

Froehlich then gave the Ducks a two-score lead with just 10 seconds remaining in the first quarter after dribbling around the goalkeeper and shooting it in off an assist from Jaymie Fiebel.

Turning Point
  • With less than five minutes remaining in regulation, Stockton was able to play the ball into the circle and draw a foul to earn a penalty shot.
  • Gianna Morganti then stepped up and fired the ball into the bottom left corner of the cage to give the Ospreys a 3-2 advantage they would not relinquish.
