WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (February 12, 2020) – The fifth-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team got multiple kills from eight different players en route to a 3-0 sweep of King's College (Pa.) Wednesday at McGrane Gymnasium.
The Ducks earned their sixth sweep of the season and remain undefeated in Middle Atlantic Conference play with the 25-13, 25-15, 25-18 victory.
Freshman 
Nathan Lancia led the way for the Ducks, producing eight kills on 11 total attempts with no errors for a .727 attack percentage. Playing in just one set, junior 
Ryan Byrne was also stellar with eight kills on just 12 swings to hit .500 in the match.
King's, meanwhile, was led offensively by Joe Joe Herman who produced five kills to go along with two service aces and a pair of blocks.
The Ducks were excellent from the service line, registering eight total service aces in the match while only being aced twice.
Stevens did not trail for the entirety of the first or the third sets in the victory and hit .233 while holding the Monarchs to a -.050 attack percentage.
Volleys and Points
	- Leading 7-5 in the opening set, the Ducks went on an 8-1 run to extend the lead to nine and did not look back in the set.
 
	- The Monarchs were able to cut the deficit to six at 17-11, but Stevens put the set away by scoring eight of the final 10 points, highlighted by three kills from Byrne, to win the set 25-13.
 
	- It was King's who took an early lead in the second set, using a quick 3-0 run to move ahead 7-5.
 
	- The Ducks responded immediately, however, with a 5-0 run of their own capped off by a service ace by Jack Bittker to grab a lead they would not relinquish.
 
	- After a Monarch point made the score 10-8, Stevens put the set away for good with another 8-1 run that pushed the lead to 18-9.
 
	- Bittker put the set away for good down the stretch, producing three of the Ducks final four points of the set to win 25-15 and go ahead 2-0.
 
	- Stevens came out firing in the third set, scoring the first six points of the set thanks to kills by Zachary Evans and Lancia as well as a pair of service aces from Jack Fyda.
 
	- The Ducks then extended the lead to nine at 11-2 after back-to-back service aces by Lancia.
 
	- King's answered with an 8-3 run to cut the deficit to 18-12 and then climbed within four thanks to four consecutive points to make the score 22-18.
 
	- Alex Franke, Fyda and Lanica made sure the match would not head to a fourth set by scoring the final three points of the match for the Ducks to give them their second straight sweep in MAC competition.
 
Inside the Numbers
	- Louden Moran and Bittker both were second on the team in kills with five apiece while Jonathan Frenzel produced four of his own on just five swings.
 
	- The Ducks hit .444 in the opening set and committed just four errors while forcing four errors for King's and a .040 attack percentage.
 
	- Playing in just two sets, senior setter Grant Burden had 20 assists while King's only had 13 as a team in the match.
 
	- Stevens finished the match with more blocks by a narrow margin, registering eight compared to seven for the Monarchs.
 
	- King's produced just 13 kills in the match, the second-fewest amount of kills against the Ducks this season.
 
	- Along with Lancia, Byrne, Bittker, Moran and Frenzel, Alexei Nikiforov, Franke and Zachary Evans all had multiple kills in the win.
 
Unsung Hero
	- One of just two players to play in all three sets, freshman Owen Dawson led the way in digs for Stevens with six to go along with two assists.
 
Next Up
	- A top-five matchup awaits the Ducks on the court the next time out as they will take on Vassar College Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
 
	- Stevens will also face off against Elms College at 3:00 p.m. Saturday as a part of the Vassar Tri-Match.
 
	- Stevens holds a 12-3 advantage over Vassar in the all-time series, including winning each of the last six matchups. The Ducks grabbed a narrow 3-2 victory last season on March 6, 2019.
 
	- The Ducks have already played Elms this season, taking home a 3-1 victory over the Blazers on Jan. 17.
