GRAND LAKE, Colo. (March 17, 2020) – Senior attackwoman
Kyra Bednarski of the Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team was named Division III IWLCA/StringKing Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association announced today. It will be the final week that the governing body will recognize IWLCA/StringKing Players of the Week in 2020.
It's the second career national weekly honor for the Syracuse, New York native, who was previously recognized by the IWLCA on April 4, 2018.
"I am really excited and proud for Kyra," said head coach
Karen Shaddock. "This recognition is well deserved. She has put in a lot of time and work to improve her game and [her performance against Union] was the best I've seen from her. She has been a pleasure to coach."
Bednarski totaled five goals and six assists in Stevens' 14-6 victory over Union on March 11. The six assists moved Bednarski into first place on the program's career assists leaderboard. Her 11-point outing is tops in the MAC Freedom this season.
The senior is the active leader in Division III in career points and ranks third across all NCAA Divisions. For the season, Bednarski has netted 17 goals to go along with eight assists, to total a team-leading 25 points.
