Women’s Soccer Clinches Postseason Berth with 1-1 Draw at FDU-Florham

Rehrig scores as Ducks extend run of consecutive postseason appearances

MADISON, N.J. (October 27, 2021)  – Sophomore Amelia Rehrig scored her team-leading fifth goal in the 13th minute as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham Campus Wednesday in a MAC Freedom match contested at Robert T. Shields Field.

The tie moved Stevens to 7-5-4 on the year and to 4-1-2 in conference play. The result clinched a spot in the MAC Freedom tournament, sending the Ducks into the postseason for the 21st straight season. The Ducks began their streak of consecutive postseason appearances in 2001, advancing to the ECAC Metro Region semifinals. Stevens is currently third with 14 points, behind both top-seeded Misericordia (21) and DeSales (15). The Cougars are locked into the number one overall seed. The Ducks can move into second place with a victory over Lycoming on Saturday and a DeSales loss or tie against Wilkes. Lycoming remains in the hunt for a spot in the conference's play-in match.

Amanda Croce had the lone goal for FDU-Florham, who moved to 11-6-2 on the year and to 3-3-2 in league play. If the season ended today, the Devils would head to Wilkes for the play-in game.

Senior Izzy DiDario made three saves for the Ducks and has allowed just one goal over her last 290 minutes. Erica Blackburn stopped eight shots for FDU-Florham.

Rehrig gave the Ducks an early lead, converting a scoring chance after collecting a long rebound from a shot by senior Gianna Nitti
