WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (April 10, 2021) – Junior
Michael Burns netted a career-high six goals to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team over Lycoming College 23-6 Saturday in a MAC Freedom matchup at UPMC Field.
Senior
Ryan Gebhardt continued on his path to become the Ducks' all-time leading goal scorer with three goals as Stevens used a decisive 10-1 margin in the second quarter to break the game open in moving to 5-2 on the year and a perfect 5-0 in league play. Stevens has won 20 straight regular season conference contests.
Owen Zimmerman had three goals and an assist to lead the Warriors, who fell to 0-7 on the year and to 0-5 in MAC Freedom action. It was the first meeting between the teams since March 2017.
"We are happy to get another MAC Freedom win," said head coach
Gene Peluso. "It was another game where we were able to play everyone that was eligible to play. Now we need to prepare and focus on a very strong Arcadia program. They are well coached and are playing very good lacrosse."
Burns scored the first goal of the game early in the first quarter, collecting a pass from junior
Craig Stockfeder, and beating Sean Sonnie to give the Ducks an early lead. The Waxhaw, North Carolina native scored the second goal of the game four minutes later, with Gebhardt and senior

Burns wrapped up his afternoon with a powerplay goal in the fourth quarter for the Ducks' final tally of the afternoon.
"Offensively, we felt like
Michael Burns stood with five goals in the first half," Peluso commented. "The coaching staff recognized Michael as the top player of the game."
