GREENSBORO, N.C. (July 29, 2021) – The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball program showed off its academic prowess once again as the Ducks earned the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award for the sixth consecutive year.
Stevens posted an impressive 3.79 grade-point average in the spring semester to win the award, given to programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2020-21 academic year.
"It was great to see our baseball student-athletes continue to achieve a high level of academic success," head coach
Kristaps Aldins said. "They keep raising the GPA bar higher each year and it speaks to their work ethic and competitiveness, even off the baseball diamond."
"Although impressive GPA's are great, our coaching staff is more concerned with our student-athletes striving to reach their own personal best," Aldins continued. "One of the items we talk about with our team quite a bit and touch-on throughout the recruiting process with prospective student-athletes is the concept of caring just as much about baseball as they do about academics and vice versa. I am excited to say that we have a high percentage of student-athletes here right now within our Stevens baseball program that embody that approach day-in and day-out."

The Ducks are one of just 19 NCAA Division III institutions to have garnered the accolade every year since the award's inception in the 2015-16 academic year. Over 380 collegiate programs to be recognized with the award this year.
