FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (Sept. 4, 2021) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis program opened the 2021 fall season with a 7-2 win over Farmingdale State on Saturday, winning all three doubles points and four of the six singles contests.

The Ducks have now won their season opener in three of their last four years dating back to the 2018-19 season and defeated Farmingdale State in the first matchup ever between the two teams.
In doubles play, Stevens grabbed all three points starting with an 8-1 victory at flight one by the combination of senior Agatha Malinowski and junior Audrey Heaberlin. At line two, senior Alexis Fuda and first-year Isabella Donna grabbed an 8-3 win and at line three sophomore Polina Odintseva and junior Juliette Marchisio won 8-4.

Then in singles competition, Malinowski, Fuda and Marchisio all mirrored each other with 6-1, 6-1 straight set victories. At line one, Malinowski downed Anastasia Hoffman, at line three, Fuda defeated Lien Collings and, at line five, Marchisio earned a win over Susana Paronia.

The final Duck to grab a singles win was Dona who also won in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 at line four. The first-year from Millstone, N.J., topped Shari Jackson to seal the 7-2 victory.
Dona, Odintseva and Emily Johannan all made their collegiate debuts in the victory.

• The next item on the agenda in the fall for Stevens is the MAC Individual Championship Sept. 11-12 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
• The Ducks had four different student-athletes earn a title in 2019 the last time championship occurred, including Heaberlin who took first at second singles.
