The Basics
  • The lead: Senior AnaMaria Laccetti and junior Laura Mathews continued the impressive starts to their seasons to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology women's indoor track & field team at the Winter Invite, hosted by Alvernia University
  • Location: Tom and Helen Flynn PLEX - Reading, Pa.
  • Short Story: Laccetti reached 11.91 meters in the shot put on her third attempt to finish second. She then touched 12.91 meters on her first attempt to finish sixth in the weight throw. The 11.91-meter shot put set a new lifetime best (indoor or outdoor) by eight-hundredth-of-a-meter.  Laccetti is currently ranked sixth regionally in the shot put and holds the third-longest mark in the Middle Atlantic Conference in the shot put and the fourth-longest weight throw. Mathews, meanwhile, won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.20 seconds after posting the fastest preliminary time (of 8.96 seconds). Her preliminary time was just one-hundredth-of-a-second off her school record mark. Mathews then ran the opening leg on the 4x200-meter relay team that finished fifth with a time of 1:55.85, ranking second in its heat. Mathews is currently ranked third in the region in both the 60-meter dash and the 60-meter hurdles, while holding the fastest MAC mark in each event.

From the Blocks - Head Coach Lance Harden
  • "The Tom and Helen Flynn PLEX at Alvernia is a gorgeous facility that will again host our MAC Indoor Championships at the end of February, so we benefited from reacquaintance and familiarization with the venue. We had 11 of the 18 MAC teams competing this weekend along with great AARTFC programs like TCNJ and Susquehanna, and our team was exposed to the high quality of our conference. It was important for our runners to get a feel for a flat track after two meets on the bank at The Armory."
  • "Our three captains—AnaMaria, Laura, and Liana—led by example with strong performances. AnaMaria Laccetti had a lifetime best in shot put, indoors or outdoors! She also debuted a three-turn technique in the weight throw for all six attempts—we expect to see a big payoff later this season. Laura Mathews had a season best in the 60-meter hurdles prelims before leading off our 4x200-meter relay and giving us a strong lead. Liana Meyer had a season best in the long jump, getting over five meters on her first attempt before being pulled away for her 60-meter hurdles race. She also improved her personal best in the 800 by three seconds."
  • "Lauren Ingraham improved her personal best in the indoor 200 by over a half-second, winning her heat! Nina Burden set an indoor personal best in the 400 and qualified for MAC's. Anjali Chandrasekhar and Victoria Agaliotis each cleared two bars in the pole vault."
