CENTER VALLEY, Pa. (Oct. 18, 2022) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team defeated DeSales University by a score of 1-0 in a MAC Freedom matchup on the road, Tuesday afternoon. First-year
Sarah Wnorowski tallied the game-winning goal in the first half.
The Ducks came out swinging to start the game. They took 10 shots in the first 45 minutes and placed six of them on goal. The defense was stout as well and held the Bulldogs to just one shot on goal and two shots total. Wnorowski's goal came in the 17th minute when junior
Jana Mucci played a ball over the top that was directed into the bottom right corner. The score was 1-0 and Stevens took their lead into the break.
The second half went similarly to the first and the Ducks continued to apply pressure. They outshot DeSales by a total of 7-4 and held a significant advantage in corner kicks. Stevens was able to produce eight corner opportunities in the final 45 minutes and held the Bulldogs to just one for the entire game. Despite their presence in the attacking third, the Ducks were unable to get a second goal, but one proved to be enough because of the stellar play of their defense. Stevens secured the 1-0 victory to bounce back from the past weekend's loss.
Stevens improved to 6-6-3 overall with the win and 5-1 in conference play. The Bulldogs dropped to 9-4-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
