Women's Soccer Downs Wilkes for Third-Straight Win

Rachel Rouse and Jana Mucci each scored twice in the 5-0 victory

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (Oct. 8, 2022) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team earned a MAC Freedom win over Wilkes University on the road by a score of 5-0. Graduate student Rachel Rouse and junior Jana Mucci each scored two goals in the team's third-straight victory.
 
Steven took control of the game with three goals in the first half. Rouse scored her first of the game in the seventh minute. She sent a shot into the top left corner in an unassisted effort to make the score 1-0. Mucci then scored in the 24th minute to double the Ducks' lead and Rouse was credited with the assist. The final goal of the half came from junior Elaine Kooiker. She received a pass from senior Caitlin Carroll and found the back of the net to make the score 3-0 after 45 minutes.
 
The Ducks continued to dominate in the second half and Rouse once again started the scoring in the period with a goal in the 58th minute to make the score 4-0. She sent a shot into the upper left corner for her second of the game and fourth of the season. The fifth and final goal came on an unassisted effort from Mucci who sent the ball into the bottom left corner of the net for her second of the game.
 
Stevens improved to 4-5-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play with the 5-0 win. The Colonels fell to 2-9-1 overall and 0-3 in conference action.
 
Inside the Numbers
  • Junior Dana Perry, sophomore Zoe Hindman and first-year Kendra Donley all saw time in net for the combined shutout effort. Perry got the start and was credited with the win.
  • The Ducks held the Colonels to just one shot on goal and led in total shots by a total of 24 to 2.
  • Stevens has won their last three games by a combined score of 13-1.
