JERSEY CITY, N.J. (November 11, 2022)  – Sophomore Harrison Hinojosa scored his fourth pin of the year to lead No. 7 Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling to a 30-9 victory Friday over Ithaca College in a non-conference dual meet hosted by the Bombers at St. Peter's Prep.

The Ducks won eight of the 10 bouts on the evening, including four with bonus points, to improve to 1-0. Dating back to last season, Stevens has won seven consecutive duals.

Ithaca claimed victories at 184 and 197, but fell to 0-1. The Ducks' victory snapped Ithaca's five-dual winning streak that dated back to early February. Stevens has won three of the last four meetings with Ithaca.

"From top to bottom, the guys wrestled with a lot of effort," head coach Joe Favia said. "They put a great product on the mat. We have a quick turn around before we leave for Wisconsin, but this dual was a great springboard into what will be a true test in the Midwest."

Junior Luke Hoerle, the reigning D3Wrestle.com Wrestler of the Week, opened things with his second major of the season, before first-year Nico Diaz picked up a decision victory to give the Ducks a 7-0 lead. Senior Kyle Slendorn notched his first major of the season to push the lead to double-digits before back-to-back decisions swelled the lead to 17.

Hinojosa followed with a fall at 165, to push his record to 5-1 with four pins. Junior Joel Martsinovsky moved to 6-1 on the year at 174 with his third major and graduate student Michael Dooley wrapped things up with a decision victory at heavyweight to close out the decisive victory.
