Jess Broad had a game-high 22 points, but No. 22 Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball fell to No. 19 Tufts University 62-49 Thursday in the opening round of the Stevens Holiday Tournament at Canavan Arena.

Amber Porrett matched a career-high with 14 rebounds for the Ducks, who saw their eight-game winning streak come to an end in falling to 9-2.
Maggie Russell had a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 15 rebounds to lead Tufts, who improved to 8-2.
Stevens built a three-point lead after outscoring Tufts 8-2 in the final minutes of the second quarter. First-year
Leyla Castro sparked the late run and Broad hit a short jumper to put Stevens back in front. Castro would hit one of two from the line and add a long 3-pointer to give the Ducks a three-point cushion at halftime. Russell's jumper with 40 seconds left in the frame accounted for the Jumbos' points in the sequence.
The Ducks held Tufts to just 25% from the floor in the opening half and outscored the Jumbos in each of the first two quarters.
The third quarter proved to be the difference in the game. Nsenkyire hit a three to push the Ducks' lead to a game-high six, but the Jumbos used a 15-0 run to jump in front for good. Tufts would connect on eight of its 15 attempts during the decisive period, outscoring Stevens 21-7.
The Ducks rebounded in the final quarter, outscoring Tufts 12-10, with Broad and Nsenkyire each netting four points.
Inside the Numbers
- Tufts won the battle of the boards 60-41, including a 15-10 edge on the offensive glass. The edge on the offensive boards helped Tufts gain an 11-8 edge in second-chance points.
- Porrett pulled down three offensive rebounds and 11 on the defensive end to match her career best, set earlier this season against Misericordia. Porrett also nabbed one steal.
- The Ducks forced 19 Tufts turnovers, while committing 12. Castro led the team with three steals. The edge in turnovers helped the Ducks gain an 8-7 edge in points from turnovers.
- Castro finished with a team-high six assists.
