Zoe Cook each scored three times but Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham Campus used a fast start to race past the Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team 23-13 Wednesday in a MAC Freedom contest at Shields Field.

Julieann Murphy each scored twice for the Ducks, who slipped to 12-2 on the year and to 4-1 in league play. The setback snapped Stevens' four-game winning streak.
Lizzy Escudero had four goals and four assists and Kylee Garcia to lead the Devils, who moved to 10-2 on the year and a perfect 4-0 in the MAC Freedom. FDU-Florham, who received votes in the most recent Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll, has won three straight and now holds the head-to-head tiebreaker in the event the teams finished tied in the conference standings at the end of the regular season.

Maddie Schmidt found the back of the net for the eighth straight game as 10 different Ducks finished with at least one point. Senior

Alison Lax in dishing out an assist to round out the Ducks' offensive contributions.

Lauren Cunniff made 10 saves in the cage for the Ducks, marking her seventh double-digit save effort of the season. Jamie Kubach made four saves to earn the victory for FDU-Florham.
FDU-Florham jumped in front early, scoring the first two goals of the game less than 90 seconds into play. Schmidt put Stevens on the board, but FDU responded with five of the next seven goals to take a 7-3 lead through one quarter.
The Devils extended their run to four to open the second quarter before the Ducks responded with consecutive goals from Cook and Leiby to climb back within five.
The teams alternated goals until consecutive tallies from Leiby and Murphy drew Stevens within five, however, the hosting Devils recorded the next five goals to open a 10-goal lead.
Fitzpatrick beat the fourth-quarter buzzer to provide the final marker of the contest.
Stevens forced nine of the Devils' 14 turnovers. Schmidt recorded three caused turnovers to lead the way, while Fitzpatrick had two.
Walsh earned a game-high eight draw controls to lead FDU, who finished with 22. Leiby and Westerby each had five to pace the Ducks.
Fitzpatrick went 2 for 2 on free-position shots as the Ducks went 5 for 10 on the day.
