GENEVA, Ohio (May 28, 2022)  – Doctor student Gina Dello Russo and junior Laura Mathews of the Stevens Institute of Technology women's track and field team each earned All-America honors Saturday on the final day of competition at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.

Dello Russo finished second in the 200-meter dash and Mathews finished third in the 100-meter hurdles as Stevens finished 16th with a total of 19 points. Loras College won the women's team championship with a total of 55 points, edging Wisconsin-La Crosse, who finished second with 51. Wisconsin-Eau Claire won the men's title, amassing 73 points.

Mathews was the first Duck to hit the track, finishing third in 100 hurdles, matching her school- and Middle Atlantic Conference-record time of 13.82 seconds to earn her second career All-America accolade. Over the course of her outdoor season, Mathews has trimmed nearly seven-tenths-of-a-second off her time and when looking at her two outdoor seasons, the Denville, New Jersey native has trimmed nearly two full seconds of her time at the start of the 2021 outdoor campaign. Gustavus Adolphus' Birgen Nelson won the championship race, winning with a time of 13.44 seconds, which set a new championship meet record.

Dello Russo, placed second in the 200 with a school-record time of 23.87 seconds to earn her second All-America honor of the meet and the 14th of her career. The milestone capped a whirlwind 12 days that saw the Morris Plains, New Jersey native climb into the national landscape in both the 200 and the long jump and finish in the top four in each event. Nebraska Wesleyan's Isabella Hogue won the race with a time of 23.56 seconds. In addition to breaking her own school record, Dello Russo's time also set a new MAC record and is the ninth-fastest time in Division III history. She is the first national runner-up for the conference since 2017.

Dello Russo's second-place finish closed out her historic career. She will go down as one of the most accomplished, and decorated, student-athletes in Stevens history.
