HOBOKEN, N.J. (Sept. 14, 2022) – The Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team was defeated at home by No. 2 Rowan University by a score of 5-0. Fifth-year goalkeeper
Emily Franco set a program record with 19 saves as well as a career-high.
The Ducks defense held off the Profs for the first 15 minutes of the game. Rowan got off 13 shots and Franco made five saves, but Stevens kept the score at 0-0 headed into the second quarter. The Profs finally broke through the Ducks' defense 30 seconds into the second. Rowan's Julia Patrone scored shortly after a penalty corner and Stevens trailed 1-0. Patrone scored another with just under two minutes left in the half and Rowan took a two-goal advantage into the break.
The Profs extended their lead in the third with two more goals. The Ducks were able to make advances into the Rowan end in the third, registering a shot on goal and earning two penalty corners. Patrone scored her third and final goal of the game in the fourth quarter to make the score 5-0.
Stevens fell to 3-3 on the season with the loss and Rowan improved to 5-0.
