HOBOKEN, N.J. (Sept. 17, 2022) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team split their two matches on the second day of action at the Castle Point Challenge on Saturday. They fell to Macalester College in five sets in their first match of the day and then swept Montclair State University 3-0 in the final match of the night.
The Ducks fell by a score of 3-2 (19-25, 23-25, 25-23, 29-27, 15-13) in their first match of the day against Macalester. Stevens fell behind early in the match and quickly trailed two sets before beginning to mount a comeback. They won the third set and then battled in the fourth with a 29-27 win to tie the match at 2-2. The Scots came back to life in the fifth and put away the match.
Four different Ducks had double digit kills in the match. Sophomore
Cleo Shannon finished with 15, junior
Elle Maggio had 12, junior
Liz Patterson had 11 and first-year
Vivian Lisboa had 10. Senior
Enkhsanaa Enkhbayar dished out 29 assists and sophomore
Bailey Axelrad finished with 27 assists.
Stevens closed out the tournament with an exclamation point, winning 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-10) over the Red Hawks. Shannon added 12 more kills to bring her total to 27 on the day and Patterson finished the match with eight kills. Axelrad tallied 15 digs, Enkhbayar dished out 18 assists and first-year
Gabbi Roberts added 15 more.
The Ducks improved to 8-4 on the year after the split on Saturday and the Red Hawks fell to 4-6 after two losses on the day.
