Women's Volleyball Defeats Manhattanville in Four Sets

It was the Ducks' third-straight win

PURCHASE, N.Y. (Sept. 23, 2022) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team defeated Manhattanville College by a score of 3-1 in a non-conference matchup, Friday night. Sophomore Shannon Cleo led the team with 16 kills.
 
Junior Liz Patterson finished the match with 10 kills and 20 digs, sophomore Bailey Axelrad totaled 26 digs, junior Meg Dion finished with a season-high 10 blocks and senior Enkhsanaa Enkhbayar and first-year Gabbi Roberts each had 13 assists in the 3-1 (25-21, 19-25, 25-21, 25-23).
 
The Ducks trailed the Valiant by a score of 14-9 in the first set, but then went on an 8-0 run to comeback and lead by a score of 17-14. Stevens did not trail after that point and were able to secure the first set victory. The Ducks then took an early 2-0 lead in the second before Manhattanville battled back to take the lead and never trailed after leading 3-2 and tied the match at one set apiece.
 
Despite a strong effort from Manhattanville in the final two sets, Stevens was able to close out the match and get the win. They improved to 10-4 on the season and the Valiants fell to 6-2. It was the Ducks' third-straight win.
 
Inside the Numbers
  • It was Stevens' second-ever meeting with Manhattanville and first since 2002.
  • The Ducks held the advantage in blocks by a total of 14 to 3.
