Rouse Scores Late to Push Women's Soccer Past DeSales

The Ducks are now 5-0 all-time against DeSales.

HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 14, 2023) - Graduate Rachel Rouse scored the game winning goal while sophomore Angela Dinh scored her first career goal as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team beat DeSales 2-1 in a Saturday afternoon at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.

The Ducks (4-6-2, 2-1-0 MAC Freedom) have won two straight games and have also won two straight games at home. DeSales (2-11-1, 1-2-0 MAC Freedom) has now lost four straight, being outscored 19-2 in those four games. Stevens is 5-0 all-time against DeSales.

The Ducks wasted no time in this contest as they tested DeSales twice in the first three minutes but were unable to score. Dinh broke the deadlock in the 26th minute for her first career goal. The ball came to her about 20 yards out outside the box on the left. She put her right foot through the ball and drilled it into the bottom left corner to give the Ducks a 1-0 lead. That scoreline would remain at the half.

After 40 minutes of no goals and a half that had been mostly controlled by Stevens, DeSales found the back of the net in the 85th minute after DeSales threw a free kick into the box that found an open player off of a deflection. That goal wouldn't discourage the Ducks, who have fallen victim to late equalizers multiple times this year. Just a minute later, Rouse scored off of a rebound from a shot from senior Elsa Bley as the Ducks would be victorious over DeSales.
