DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (October 25, 2023) - Sophomore Lauren Alley scored a career high two goals while five other Ducks scored as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team blew out Delaware Valley 7-1 Wednesday night.
The Ducks (7-6-2, 5-1-0 MAC Freedom) have now clinched the #2 seed in the MAC Freedom Tournament. They will host Arcadia on Tuesday, October 31st. Stevens has already defeated the Knights earlier this season at home, winning 3-0 back on October 21st. Delaware Valley (7-9-2, 0-5-1 MAC Freedom) having been eliminated from the postseason conversation.
The match was never in doubt as the Ducks dominated from the opening whistle. They quickly got on the scoresheet as senior Amelia Rehrig scored in the third minute, graduate Rachel Rouse and senior Elsa Bley assisting. In the 23rd minute, the Ducks struck again as sophomore Angela Dinh scored on an assist from Rouse. Delaware Valley quickly answered to make the score 2-1, but the Ducks scored a third before half as junior Olivia Castro scored with graduate Tia Saade assisting. Stevens led 3-1 at the break.
Stevens scored two goals in the first five minutes of the second half, coming off the boots of Saade and Alley. Sophomore Sarah Wnorowski assisted Saade's goal while senior Jana Muccia assisted Alley's. First-year Luciana Rodrigues joined the party in the 66th minute as Bley recorded her second assist of the game on the play. Alley capped off the team's great performance with her second of the night at the 88th minute mark to seal the 7-1 victory. First-year Kaitlin Sorrentino assisted the final goal.Â
