Women's Soccer Concedes Late Winner Against No. 21 Misericordia

Caitlin Carroll scored her first career goal in the game.

DALLAS, Pa. (October 7, 2023) - Graduate Caitlin Carroll scored her first career goal, but it wasn't enough as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team fell to No. 21 Misericordia in a MAC Freedom match Saturday night.

The Ducks now sit at 2-6-2 overall and 1-1-0 in MAC Freedom play after the result. Misericordia (7-3-0, 2-0-0 MAC Freedom) remains perfect in conference play and now owns the tiebreaker over the Ducks. The Cougars have also won five straight games in the series.

Misericordia came flying out of the gates, scoring in the fifth minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Cougars continued to dominate in the half as they did not let the Ducks record a shot in the frame. Sophomore Kenny Donley made three saves in the frame. Misericordia maintained their 1-0 lead at the break.

Stevens came out in the second half determined to find an equalizer as both senior Elsa Bley and graduate Julia Cairns each recorded shots on target in the opening 15 minutes of the half. The Ducks found the equalizer via Carroll in the 65th minute on an assist from Bley. Despite finding the tying goal, Misericordia scored in the 88th minute to take the game, winning 2-1.
