HOBOKEN, N.J. (November 1, 2023) - Junior Terry Thompson scored a career high two goals as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team defeated #3 Misericordia 4-1 Wednesday night in the MAC Freedom semifinal.
The Ducks (10-2-5) are unbeaten in their last nine games. Stevens will now advance to the MAC Championship game and take on #1 Lebanon Valley on Saturday. The two teams met this past season and played to a scoreless draw. Misericordia finished the season 5-8-4.
It didn't take long for the Ducks to get on the board, as they were awarded a penalty just two minutes in. Junior Luca Campbell stepped up to the spot and converted to put the Ducks up 1-0. Stevens would end up doubling their advantage in the 38th minute, as Thompson scored his first of the game off of a corner kick to go up 2-0. Before the break, Misericordia was given a penalty and they converted with seven seconds left in the half to cut the deficit to one. Stevens led 2-1 at the half.
Stevens worked quick again as Thompson scored his second of the game in the 48th minute on an assist from graduate Jameson Railey. In the 68th minute, Campbell hit the crossbar from the right side of the box and the ball fell right to Railey, who took a touch and passed the ball in the back of the net and put the Ducks up 4-1. Stevens would close out the game and win for the chance to play #1 Lebanon Valley this Saturday.
